THE MOON

13 September 2018 – 20 January 2019

The exhibition explores the Moon as an artistic icon, symbol of longing and object of scientific inquiry. It leads up to the 50th anniversary of the first manned Moon landing and encompasses art, film, literature, architecture, design, natural history and historical objects. Opening hours: Tue-Fri 11:00-22:00, Sat-Sun 11:00-18:00. National holidays 11:00-18:00. Mondays closed. Take a regional train to Humlebæk and change to bus 388. Admission. Info here.
 

ARKEN Museum of Modern Art

Van Gogh

1 September 2018 – 20 January 2019

Vincent van Gogh is coming to ARKEN. In a unique collaboration with the Kröller-Müller Museum, The Netherlands, the museum will open its doors to a wide-ranging exhibition of Van Gogh’s works with a focus on such themes as nature and religion. Opening hours: Tue-Sun 10:00-17:00, Wed 10:00-21:00. Take S-train (Route E in the direction of Køge or Route A in the direction of Solrød Strand) and alight at Ishøj Station and take bus 128 to the museum – or bring a bike on the train. Admission. Women of Surrealism

The exhibition highlights major works from the museum’s older collections that have seldom, or never, been shown in the museum. Among the exhibits are gobelins by Matisse and Léger, ceramics by Paul Gauguin, Jorn and Corneille, glassware by Emilie Gallé, posters by Toulouse-Lautrec, silverware by Johan Rohde & Georg Jensen and jewellery by Lalique. One of Denmark’s leading architectural studios, BIG, is highlighted in an exhibition about art in architecture and public space.
