Jazz in Copenhagen

 
Copenhagen is a celebrated city of live jazz with two annual jazz festivals, in July and February. Read more about the festivals here. But throughout the year you can enjoy concerts and dining events with international jazz stars at the city’s legendary clubs.

Rock and rhythmic music

Copenhagen offers a wide choice of concert venues and nightclubs with live music. Here are a few highlights.

Hotel Cecil

Formerly the home of Copenhagen Jazzhouse, the venue offers a wide program of genres. Managed by VEGA. Nearest metro station: Gammel Strand (M3) Info here.

VEGA

Housed in a 1950s worker’s movement cultural centre, the VEGA House of Music features several live music stages, nightclubs and bars. Concerts are held daily throughout the winter season. Royal Arena

Concerts and sports events at one of the city’s largest event arenas. Nearest metro station: Vestamager (M1). Info here.

Pumpehuset

Reggae, hip-hop, heavy metal – and jazz for kids. This wide-embracing music venue has something for everyone. Programme here. Nearest station: Vesterport.

Loppen

The legendary rock venue in the freetown of Christiania offers a wide range of genres. Nearest station: Christianshavn (M1, M2). Info here.
 

Classic concert venues

Some of Copenhagen’s grand classic concert halls are among Europe’s newest and finest venues. They also often host jazz and popular music events. The Danish capital has no less than 4 symphony orchestras and a number of period music ensembles.
 

DR Concert Hall

Classic concerts and popular music events are featured at Copenhagen’s grand DR Concert Hall designed by Jean Nouvel and home to the National Symphony Orchestras. Access the program (in Danish) here. Opera House

Copenhagen’s grand waterside Opera House features two stages. Operas are performed by the Royal Danish Opera in concert with the world’s oldest symphony orchestra, the Royal Danish Orchestra. Info and tickets here

Tivoli Concert Hall

Located in Tivoli Gardens, the 1950s concert hall features symphonic music and family entertainment throughout much of the year. Nearest station: Copenhagen Central Station. Info and tickets here

Royal Academy of Music Concert Hall

Concerts at the Royal Danish Academy of Music are often free of charge. Nearest metro station: Forum (M1, M2). Info here

The Black Diamond

Concerts are regularly held in the chamber music concert hall in the waterside Black Diamond (foyer to the Royal Library). Nearest metro station: Gammel Strand (M3). Info and tickets here.
